Do you feel like you are doing all the inner work but not seeing any shifts in your life?
If the answer is yes, then I invite you to look a little deeper…
I often come across a lot of people who claim to be doing the “inner work” and yet say they are still stuck in the same pattern.
When I discuss with them what they are doing, I can clearly see they haven’t and aren’t actually doing the REAL inner work at all!
I am seeing this so much recently I thought it’s time to address this issue.

It may seem silly to some of you and yet I hear this all the time!
People will say “I have read this and that book and I am reading all the self-help books.. “
And don’t get me wrong, that’s great!
I LOVE self-help books!
It’s pretty much all I read! 🙂
There is a BIG difference between reading, knowing, analyzing, thinking, meditating, being mindful and actually DOING the inner work!
If you are using meditation to avoid emotional pain, you are basically spiritually bypassing – I actually wrote about this a few months back.
If you say you are practicing “mindfulness” and yet your life is a mess & you are still stuck in a rut – stop fooling yourself. You have real inner work to do so get to it.
If you are reading book after book, doing course after course, feeling inspired and gaining more knowledge but yet still repeating the same patterns… well I said it above!
You get my point.
Please know that I did this too! For around 5 flipping years… until it hit me.
You can use all of the above as “tools” however the inner work has to be done precisely as it says “inside” you!
No one can do this for you.
You have to go through the painful emotions you are avoiding and yes this is uncomfortable! Hence most people will do everything in their power to avoid it.
On that note, I have also seen people that come to me and I’m sure others saying they are ready to do the inner work and when push comes to shove, they fight for remaining exactly where they are!
To do the real inner work you need one quality, and that’s humility.
Humility encompasses a number of attributes including acceptance, surrender, grace, gratitude, honesty, truth, inner strength, I’m sure a whole lot more and also drum roll please…
Recognition of self!
Recognizing your deeper emotional pain, being aware of how you use excuses to keep yourself in the same story, identifying your unconscious behavioural patterns, seeing where you are not willing to look deeper or choosing to remain in blame…
It is only when you are humble, can you truly allow yourself to fully process your suppressed emotions and look at your blocks in a way that immediately breaks down all your barriers to your resistance of change, allowing you to let go & shift what no longer serves you.
