What is your favourite book?
It’s a tough one isn’t it?
Whenever someone asks me that question, my initial thoughts are “One book? There are so many good books!”
On top of that there are different genres.. where do you even start!
Clients often ask me to recommend them a good book to read and it truly depends on where you are on your Soul journey.
Recently I’ve been asked this question quite a few times so I decided to compile a quick list of my top 5 self-help books and share it with you.
These are not in any particular order. I have chosen these based on the simplicity of their message and effectiveness of technique and concept in general.
I have and still use the majority of the concepts and tools shared in these book today!
Here they are:
1. Ask And It Is Given by Ester & Jerry Hicks
This book is beautifully written and explains clearly about our emotions and the emotional vibration scale. Ester channels an entity called Abraham, who teaches concepts about raising your vibration through the emotional vibrational scale in order to attract more of what you desire. There are many techniques in the book to guide you through this. They are simple to apply and easy to understand.
2. The 7 Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra
I have heard quite a few people comment negatively on Deepak, saying he’s too commercial etc. However I, personally, love his books! This one in particular was my bible for many years. It’s easy to read and a good one to carry around since it’s short and small. The concepts are so “light” and really gave me a lot of insights. It’s a good one to refer back to every now and then with some nice exercises to reflect on.
3. The New Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz
I honestly could not put this book down. This book gives numerous examples and case studies based on a plastic surgeon’s practice and his observation of his client’s perception about themselves. Maxwell talks about how our self-image affects affects our lives. There many good practical exercises and techniques to shift the perception we have about ourselves to a more empowering one. This one is definitely a keeper!
4. A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle
The term “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” definitely applied to this one when I first received it as a gift. I “obviously” thought it was about the Earth (LOL).. well not quite! Nevertheless it was an eye opener! Eckhart Tolle talks about the ego, and how to transcend it’s limited thinking in order to live in a more aware and conscious state of being. Eckhart’s whole approach is really about being more aware of when the ego shows up. This one is definitely worth a read and provides good food for thought.
5. The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
You can read this book over and over again, and I encourage you to do so. It is short, gets straight to the point and really makes you think about all your actions, thoughts and words throughout your life experience. To be honest the agreements and advice is really nothing new but these are concepts which we need to constantly remind ourselves when we get overwhelmed with emotions in certain situations in life.
So there you have it..
If you haven’t read any of the above, grab your copy & you won’t be disappointed. If you have, you know they are always worth a re-read! 🙂
